How Do You Have Your Pizza?

The economic downturn has hit many businesses hard. Both in Melbourne and across Australia pizza is becoming a growing comfort to us all, even in our times of need.

When the economy starts to turn, there are always those industries that keep looking up. Across Australia, the industry is strengthening, however in the south the true strength is with Melbourne Pizza Delivery. The pizza marketplace is one of the real boom industries as we speak.

While expensive luxuries have started to flounder and Australians tighten their purse strings, the pizza industry has fared quite well according to an article published earlier this year in an Sydney article. Considered an affordable pleasure, Aussies turn to their favorite comfort food in these tough economic times more and more – and pizza is one of our last affordable small pleasures. By January of last year, takeaway foods were up in sales by more than 11% over the previous year, and by the halfway mark a big pizza chain reported an actual increase in pizza sales of almost 3%. In fact, that very same pizza chain was hiring while others were laying off, just to fill the need for pizza delivery people.

Do take away customers prefer to order pizza from home or make it themselves? Most people prefer not to learn how to make pizza dough. Ordering is the preference. So what do you like with your pizza? And what do we like with our pizza? But of course, a good, cold beer. The brewing industry has grown right alongside the pizza delivery scene, boasting increased profits of over 2% per quarter, and over a $411 million half-year profit for The Foster’s Group, which holds over half of the market share for beer in Australia.

The economic situation has definitely tightened things up for people. So, so what if you’ve cut out your nights out on the town? You still have the comfort of good food, good friends, and a relaxing beer at home!
